Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi pledged to cut the food consumption tax from 8% to 1% for two years beginning in April, according to Qatar News Agency.
She said the government aims to implement the reduction without issuing new bonds, supporting low- and middle-income households. The programme also includes a five-year investment plan to be prepared by year-end. These measures remain pledges and plans subject to approval and implementation.
