As Al Wasm approaches, Buraidah and Qassim recall folk knowledge associated with changing weather and farming and grazing seasons.
Residents associate Al Wasm with milder weather, falling temperatures, anticipated rainfall and the return of wild plants—knowledge passed between generations.
Seasonal terminology and star lore remain in older residents' and environmental and agricultural enthusiasts' conversations as part of local heritage.
