Al Thumamah bridge opens to traffic on October 9 after main works completed

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced completion of the main works on the Al Thumamah Road bridge at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road, setting 6 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026, for opening to vehicles.

Construction took approximately six months after work began on April 1 and the previous bridge was removed. Stages included foundations, installing bridge sections, paving and lighting.

The bridge forms part of the 24-kilometer Al Thumamah corridor development between Sheikh Jaber Al Sabah and King Khalid roads. The corridor plan includes 17 bridges, 10 tunnels and three intersections to improve mobility and road efficiency in the capital.
