Childhood Hackathon opens participation for technology initiatives in Eastern Region

The Al-Hasa Association for Child Welfare announced the availability of registration for the 'Childhood Hackathon' during the period from October 11 to 24, 2026, aiming to develop technological initiatives that respond to the needs of children and families, according to a report by 'Ain Al-Akhbariya' newspaper on October 10.

The hackathon is sponsored by the Emir of the Eastern Province, Prince Saud bin Nayeef Al-Abdulaziz, and targets 50 participants distributed in 12 teams working within a lab to design initiatives under the supervision of specialists and experts.

The teams' journey starts with identifying problems and understanding needs, then developing testable solutions and measuring impact. The program includes intermediate and final consultations and evaluations to produce initiatives that the association can adopt and develop in cooperation with supporting entities.

According to the published details, applications are available for Saudis and residents, starting with an electronic request, followed by evaluation of applications and short interviews before selecting the teams. The invitation includes professionals, researchers, and interested individuals and university students.

It is planned to present the initiatives and announce the results and recommendations at a closing ceremony coinciding with World Children's Day in November 2026. The initiative combines practical training and specialized evaluation to develop solutions in the field of social innovation.
